HUGE team visit to NCLC

The HUGE Partnership have just come back from visiting the wonderful Nabugabo Community Learning Centre, Uganda. The new school year has started well with a fresh intake of 15 children in P1, taking total school numbers to 125. We also have new staff, and the school is looking in fine shape for the year ahead. Time was spent hosting a parent/teacher meeting, where over 70 parents/guardians attended; replenishing the store room of vital resources; spending time with the teachers and measuring all the new children in P1.

During the trip we also visited a secondary school as a potential option for NCLC students to continue their education after they leave NCLC. NCLC caters for students in Primary 1 to Primary 7 and having opened its doors 7 years ago, the school has its first year of P7. This is an important final year for these students and like most primary schools, they will undertake exams for secondary school at the end of the year. In Uganda you have to pass these exams to be able to progress to secondary school. In addition, whilst admission to secondary education relies on passing these exams, attendance is not free but conditional upon school fees being paid. Plans are underway by HUGE for the creation of a separate secondary education fund to enable these students to continue their education and development that they have begun at NCLC.

In order to continue the good work of the school, HUGE is looking for funding from supporters both old and new .Please get involved by donating at Virgin Giving and sharing this with your friends.
