Helping UGanda Educate
HUGE, which stands for Helping UGanda Educate, has been set up to make a difference to children in Uganda. It specifically provides financial and resource support to the Nabugabo Community Learning Centre, a private NGO which supports:-
A primary school set up in 2012 solely to provide free education and support to vulnerable and disadvantaged children who would otherwise not be able to attend school. It is located in South West Uganda, in a rural and very poor area called Nabugabo, in the district of Masaka. There are currently 141 children (84 are female) and 13 full time Ugandan staff (8 of whom are female).
A secondary fund was set up in 2019 to support the children, after Nabugabo Primary School, to go to a local private secondary school. There are currently 62 children (37 are female) in secondary education.
Assistance is given on a number of initiatives relating to female empowerment, health, welfare, water and waste/recycling to encourage a sustainable community.
Our purpose is to make a difference to children most at need and to provide them with an education through high quality teaching in a dynamic, caring and safe environment. We firmly believe there is a far greater chance of building a sustainable community whereby through a proper education, the children will be able to become independent, resilient young people who are able to support and provide for themselves and others in the long term.
